Omschrijving:
Woensdag 16 oktober
We gedragen ons nu geloof ik zeer gepensioneerd. We hebben een hotelletje geboekt en zijn er een paar dagen tussenuit. Afgelopen weken was het steeds zo mooi najaarsweer, maar hadden we geen tijd en nu hebben we wat meer ruimte in de agenda’s en is het weer omgeslagen. Het had alles kunnen worden, Boedapest, Praag, Keulen, Oslo. Van alles is gepasseerd, maar het is uiteindelijk Leuven, België geworden. Leuven is een leuke stad, maar ook de omgeving is mooi. Veel natuur en dat is in de herfst natuurlijk ook genieten.
We rijden om kwart over negen weg en de zon doet gelijk dapper zijn best. Een halfuurtje later hebben we de mistlampen nodig, maar eenmaal in Leuven is de zon weer terug.
We parkeren de auto eerst bij de 19e eeuwse Benedictijnenabdij op de Keizerberg, aan de noordoost-rand van Leuven. De abdij is niet te bezichtigen, hij doet nog dienst, maar het omliggende park is erg mooi. De abdij staat op de plek van een vroegere burcht en biedt een mooi uitzicht. We wandelen lekker in het zonnetje.
Daarna parkeren we de auto in de buurt van de ‘Kruidtuin’. Een tuin met geneeskrachtige planten was de voorloper van de botanische siertuin. Deze tuin is de oudste van België (1738). We hebben zoals gewoonlijk flink wat tijd nodig om alles te bekijken. Ondanks het gevorderde seizoen is er volop te zien. De fruitbomen zijn nu zwaar van de oogst en er zijn nog veel bloemen. We eten onze broodjes op een bankje in de ‘verzonken tuin’. Het is nog net niet te koud.
Daarna wandelen we naar de Oude Markt. Hoog tijd voor een kop koffie. De Oude Markt wordt wel ‘de langste toog’ van Europa genoemd, vanwege zijn vele terrassen. De prachtige oude huizen hebben allemaal gevels, die de moeite van het bekijken waard zijn. We wandelen door de Parijsstraat en komen op de Grote Markt. We lopen even de Sint-Pieterskerk door, maar daar wordt druk gerestaureerd. Langs de Lei lopen we naar Het Kleine Begijnhof en de Sint-Gertruikerk. De gotische toren uit 1454 wordt één van Leuvens zeven wonderen genoemd, omdat hij gebouwd is zonder een enkele nagel (wat zouden de andere zes wonderen zijn?).
Het is gezellig druk in de straten. We hebben geen vast plan en zien overal mooie gevels en leuke mensen.
Uiteindelijk zijn we bij de auto terug. Precies de volle parkeertijd vol gemaakt. Als we in de auto stappen, begint het te regenen. We rijden naar ons hotel om in te checken. Het is ook alweer een pand met een prachtige gevel. Binnen is het supermodern gerestaureerd, alleen de mozaïekvloer mocht gelukkig blijven liggen. We lopen nog een rondje door onze nieuwe woonomgeving. Dat is vlak bij station Heverlee, een deelgemeente van Leuven. Het naastliggend restaurant, Het Seinhuis, knipoogt ons toe, dus daar gaan we lekker eten. Er staat everzijn op het menu, heerlijk met veenbessensaus. Een witlof/courgettesoep vooraf, nou wij kunnen er wel weer even tegen.

Reisdetails van Herfstig Leuven
Omschrijving:
Woensdag 16 oktober
We gedragen ons nu geloof ik zeer gepensioneerd. We hebben een hotelletje geboekt en zijn er een paar dagen tussenuit. Afgelopen weken was het steeds zo mooi najaarsweer, maar hadden we geen tijd en nu hebben we wat meer ruimte in de agenda’s en is het weer omgeslagen. Het had alles kunnen worden, Boedapest, Praag, Keulen, Oslo. Van alles is gepasseerd, maar het is uiteindelijk Leuven, België geworden. Leuven is een leuke stad, maar ook de omgeving is mooi. Veel natuur en dat is in de herfst natuurlijk ook genieten.
We rijden om kwart over negen weg en de zon doet gelijk dapper zijn best. Een halfuurtje later hebben we de mistlampen nodig, maar eenmaal in Leuven is de zon weer terug.
We parkeren de auto eerst bij de 19e eeuwse Benedictijnenabdij op de Keizerberg, aan de noordoost-rand van Leuven. De abdij is niet te bezichtigen, hij doet nog dienst, maar het omliggende park is erg mooi. De abdij staat op de plek van een vroegere burcht en biedt een mooi uitzicht. We wandelen lekker in het zonnetje.
Daarna parkeren we de auto in de buurt van de ‘Kruidtuin’. Een tuin met geneeskrachtige planten was de voorloper van de botanische siertuin. Deze tuin is de oudste van België (1738). We hebben zoals gewoonlijk flink wat tijd nodig om alles te bekijken. Ondanks het gevorderde seizoen is er volop te zien. De fruitbomen zijn nu zwaar van de oogst en er zijn nog veel bloemen. We eten onze broodjes op een bankje in de ‘verzonken tuin’. Het is nog net niet te koud.
Daarna wandelen we naar de Oude Markt. Hoog tijd voor een kop koffie. De Oude Markt wordt wel ‘de langste toog’ van Europa genoemd, vanwege zijn vele terrassen. De prachtige oude huizen hebben allemaal gevels, die de moeite van het bekijken waard zijn. We wandelen door de Parijsstraat en komen op de Grote Markt. We lopen even de Sint-Pieterskerk door, maar daar wordt druk gerestaureerd. Langs de Lei lopen we naar Het Kleine Begijnhof en de Sint-Gertruikerk. De gotische toren uit 1454 wordt één van Leuvens zeven wonderen genoemd, omdat hij gebouwd is zonder een enkele nagel (wat zouden de andere zes wonderen zijn?).
Het is gezellig druk in de straten. We hebben geen vast plan en zien overal mooie gevels en leuke mensen.
Uiteindelijk zijn we bij de auto terug. Precies de volle parkeertijd vol gemaakt. Als we in de auto stappen, begint het te regenen. We rijden naar ons hotel om in te checken. Het is ook alweer een pand met een prachtige gevel. Binnen is het supermodern gerestaureerd, alleen de mozaïekvloer mocht gelukkig blijven liggen. We lopen nog een rondje door onze nieuwe woonomgeving. Dat is vlak bij station Heverlee, een deelgemeente van Leuven. Het naastliggend restaurant, Het Seinhuis, knipoogt ons toe, dus daar gaan we lekker eten. Er staat everzijn op het menu, heerlijk met veenbessensaus. Een witlof/courgettesoep vooraf, nou wij kunnen er wel weer even tegen.

Omschrijving:
Woensdag 16 oktober
We gedragen ons nu geloof ik zeer gepensioneerd. We hebben een hotelletje geboekt en zijn er een paar dagen tussenuit. Afgelopen weken was het steeds zo mooi najaarsweer, maar hadden we geen tijd en nu hebben we wat meer ruimte in de agenda’s en is het weer omgeslagen. Het had alles kunnen worden, Boedapest, Praag, Keulen, Oslo. Van alles is gepasseerd, maar het is uiteindelijk Leuven, België geworden. Leuven is een leuke stad, maar ook de omgeving is mooi. Veel natuur en dat is in de herfst natuurlijk ook genieten.
We rijden om kwart over negen weg en de zon doet gelijk dapper zijn best. Een halfuurtje later hebben we de mistlampen nodig, maar eenmaal in Leuven is de zon weer terug.
We parkeren de auto eerst bij de 19e eeuwse Benedictijnenabdij op de Keizerberg, aan de noordoost-rand van Leuven. De abdij is niet te bezichtigen, hij doet nog dienst, maar het omliggende park is erg mooi. De abdij staat op de plek van een vroegere burcht en biedt een mooi uitzicht. We wandelen lekker in het zonnetje.
Daarna parkeren we de auto in de buurt van de ‘Kruidtuin’. Een tuin met geneeskrachtige planten was de voorloper van de botanische siertuin. Deze tuin is de oudste van België (1738). We hebben zoals gewoonlijk flink wat tijd nodig om alles te bekijken. Ondanks het gevorderde seizoen is er volop te zien. De fruitbomen zijn nu zwaar van de oogst en er zijn nog veel bloemen. We eten onze broodjes op een bankje in de ‘verzonken tuin’. Het is nog net niet te koud.
Daarna wandelen we naar de Oude Markt. Hoog tijd voor een kop koffie. De Oude Markt wordt wel ‘de langste toog’ van Europa genoemd, vanwege zijn vele terrassen. De prachtige oude huizen hebben allemaal gevels, die de moeite van het bekijken waard zijn. We wandelen door de Parijsstraat en komen op de Grote Markt. We lopen even de Sint-Pieterskerk door, maar daar wordt druk gerestaureerd. Langs de Lei lopen we naar Het Kleine Begijnhof en de Sint-Gertruikerk. De gotische toren uit 1454 wordt één van Leuvens zeven wonderen genoemd, omdat hij gebouwd is zonder een enkele nagel (wat zouden de andere zes wonderen zijn?).
Het is gezellig druk in de straten. We hebben geen vast plan en zien overal mooie gevels en leuke mensen.
Uiteindelijk zijn we bij de auto terug. Precies de volle parkeertijd vol gemaakt. Als we in de auto stappen, begint het te regenen. We rijden naar ons hotel om in te checken. Het is ook alweer een pand met een prachtige gevel. Binnen is het supermodern gerestaureerd, alleen de mozaïekvloer mocht gelukkig blijven liggen. We lopen nog een rondje door onze nieuwe woonomgeving. Dat is vlak bij station Heverlee, een deelgemeente van Leuven. Het naastliggend restaurant, Het Seinhuis, knipoogt ons toe, dus daar gaan we lekker eten. Er staat everzijn op het menu, heerlijk met veenbessensaus. Een witlof/courgettesoep vooraf, nou wij kunnen er wel weer even tegen.

Reisdetails van Herfstig Leuven
Omschrijving:
Woensdag 16 oktober
We gedragen ons nu geloof ik zeer gepensioneerd. We hebben een hotelletje geboekt en zijn er een paar dagen tussenuit. Afgelopen weken was het steeds zo mooi najaarsweer, maar hadden we geen tijd en nu hebben we wat meer ruimte in de agenda’s en is het weer omgeslagen. Het had alles kunnen worden, Boedapest, Praag, Keulen, Oslo. Van alles is gepasseerd, maar het is uiteindelijk Leuven, België geworden. Leuven is een leuke stad, maar ook de omgeving is mooi. Veel natuur en dat is in de herfst natuurlijk ook genieten.
We rijden om kwart over negen weg en de zon doet gelijk dapper zijn best. Een halfuurtje later hebben we de mistlampen nodig, maar eenmaal in Leuven is de zon weer terug.
We parkeren de auto eerst bij de 19e eeuwse Benedictijnenabdij op de Keizerberg, aan de noordoost-rand van Leuven. De abdij is niet te bezichtigen, hij doet nog dienst, maar het omliggende park is erg mooi. De abdij staat op de plek van een vroegere burcht en biedt een mooi uitzicht. We wandelen lekker in het zonnetje.
Daarna parkeren we de auto in de buurt van de ‘Kruidtuin’. Een tuin met geneeskrachtige planten was de voorloper van de botanische siertuin. Deze tuin is de oudste van België (1738). We hebben zoals gewoonlijk flink wat tijd nodig om alles te bekijken. Ondanks het gevorderde seizoen is er volop te zien. De fruitbomen zijn nu zwaar van de oogst en er zijn nog veel bloemen. We eten onze broodjes op een bankje in de ‘verzonken tuin’. Het is nog net niet te koud.
Daarna wandelen we naar de Oude Markt. Hoog tijd voor een kop koffie. De Oude Markt wordt wel ‘de langste toog’ van Europa genoemd, vanwege zijn vele terrassen. De prachtige oude huizen hebben allemaal gevels, die de moeite van het bekijken waard zijn. We wandelen door de Parijsstraat en komen op de Grote Markt. We lopen even de Sint-Pieterskerk door, maar daar wordt druk gerestaureerd. Langs de Lei lopen we naar Het Kleine Begijnhof en de Sint-Gertruikerk. De gotische toren uit 1454 wordt één van Leuvens zeven wonderen genoemd, omdat hij gebouwd is zonder een enkele nagel (wat zouden de andere zes wonderen zijn?).
Het is gezellig druk in de straten. We hebben geen vast plan en zien overal mooie gevels en leuke mensen.
Uiteindelijk zijn we bij de auto terug. Precies de volle parkeertijd vol gemaakt. Als we in de auto stappen, begint het te regenen. We rijden naar ons hotel om in te checken. Het is ook alweer een pand met een prachtige gevel. Binnen is het supermodern gerestaureerd, alleen de mozaïekvloer mocht gelukkig blijven liggen. We lopen nog een rondje door onze nieuwe woonomgeving. Dat is vlak bij station Heverlee, een deelgemeente van Leuven. Het naastliggend restaurant, Het Seinhuis, knipoogt ons toe, dus daar gaan we lekker eten. Er staat everzijn op het menu, heerlijk met veenbessensaus. Een witlof/courgettesoep vooraf, nou wij kunnen er wel weer even tegen.

We gedragen ons nu geloof ik zeer gepensioneerd. We hebben een hotelletje geboekt en zijn er een paar dagen tussenuit. Afgelopen weken was het steeds zo mooi najaarsweer, maar hadden we geen tijd en nu hebben we wat meer ruimte in de agenda’s en is het weer omgeslagen. Het had alles kunnen worden, Boedapest, Praag, Keulen, Oslo. Van alles is gepasseerd, maar het is uiteindelijk Leuven, België geworden. Leuven is een leuke stad, maar ook de omgeving is mooi. Veel natuur en dat is in de herfst natuurlijk ook genieten.
We rijden om kwart over negen weg en de zon doet gelijk dapper zijn best. Een halfuurtje later hebben we de mistlampen nodig, maar eenmaal in Leuven is de zon weer terug.
We parkeren de auto eerst bij de 19e eeuwse Benedictijnenabdij op de Keizerberg, aan de noordoost-rand van Leuven. De abdij is niet te bezichtigen, hij doet nog dienst, maar het omliggende park is erg mooi. De abdij staat op de plek van een vroegere burcht en biedt een mooi uitzicht. We wandelen lekker in het zonnetje.
Daarna parkeren we de auto in de buurt van de ‘Kruidtuin’. Een tuin met geneeskrachtige planten was de voorloper van de botanische siertuin. Deze tuin is de oudste van België (1738). We hebben zoals gewoonlijk flink wat tijd nodig om alles te bekijken. Ondanks het gevorderde seizoen is er volop te zien. De fruitbomen zijn nu zwaar van de oogst en er zijn nog veel bloemen. We eten onze broodjes op een bankje in de ‘verzonken tuin’. Het is nog net niet te koud.
Daarna wandelen we naar de Oude Markt. Hoog tijd voor een kop koffie. De Oude Markt wordt wel ‘de langste toog’ van Europa genoemd, vanwege zijn vele terrassen. De prachtige oude huizen hebben allemaal gevels, die de moeite van het bekijken waard zijn. We wandelen door de Parijsstraat en komen op de Grote Markt. We lopen even de Sint-Pieterskerk door, maar daar wordt druk gerestaureerd. Langs de Lei lopen we naar Het Kleine Begijnhof en de Sint-Gertruikerk. De gotische toren uit 1454 wordt één van Leuvens zeven wonderen genoemd, omdat hij gebouwd is zonder een enkele nagel (wat zouden de andere zes wonderen zijn?).
Het is gezellig druk in de straten. We hebben geen vast plan en zien overal mooie gevels en leuke mensen.
Uiteindelijk zijn we bij de auto terug. Precies de volle parkeertijd vol gemaakt. Als we in de auto stappen, begint het te regenen. We rijden naar ons hotel om in te checken. Het is ook alweer een pand met een prachtige gevel. Binnen is het supermodern gerestaureerd, alleen de mozaïekvloer mocht gelukkig blijven liggen. We lopen nog een rondje door onze nieuwe woonomgeving. Dat is vlak bij station Heverlee, een deelgemeente van Leuven. Het naastliggend restaurant, Het Seinhuis, knipoogt ons toe, dus daar gaan we lekker eten. Er staat everzijn op het menu, heerlijk met veenbessensaus. Een witlof/courgettesoep vooraf, nou wij kunnen er wel weer even tegen.
